Following medical studies in Germany, Mathias trained as a specialist in internal medicine (2004) and nephrology (2005) at Linköping University Hospital, where he worked as a specialist until 2006.
After 2006, he worked as a specialist and later as a consultant physician at the medical unit Nephrology within Karolinska University Hospital, where he is currently in charge of bone and mineral disorders.
He has been the medical director at Diaverum Södertälje since 2017, and since 2019 at Diaverum Solna Gate. In 2019, he stepped in as Country Medical Director for Sweden, and in 2020 as Corporate Medical Director, with the responsibility to coordinate all research activity within Diaverum.
Mathias got his PhD in 2014 and is an adjunct researcher at the Division of Renal Medicine, CLINTEC, at Karolinska Institutet, a member of the board in the European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTAs) CKD-MBD Working Group and the EUROD Initiative, a member of the Swedish Renal Medicine Association’s guideline group and a clinical advisor to Resverlogix corp.
Mathias has published a number of scientific articles and held lectures at both national and international conferences.
